Missouri vs. Minnesota final score: Tigers win Citrus, 33-17

The Tigers had an impressive last three quarters in the win over the overmatched Gophers.

After struggling to get its offense going early on, thanks to two Maty Mauk interceptions, Missouri's offense settled down after the first quarter and methodically steam-rolled through a strong Minnesota defense to win 33-17.

Mauk shook off the slow start to throw two touchdowns, and running back Marcus Murphy was phenomenal, rushing for 157 yards on 12 carries (a very impressive 13.1 yards per carry). But the Missouri defense was the real story. The Tigers stifled David Cobb and Mitch Leidner, as Minnesota struggled to move the ball (except for when tight end Maxx Williams was hurdling defenders). Missouri owned the fourth quarter, and a late Minnesota comeback attempt wasn't enough.

This was Minnesota's first January bowl appearance in 54 years, and now, Minnesota must try to replace the production of Cobb and Williams — the latter of whom is leaving for the NFL — in order to make a repeat appearance in January next season. Meanwhile, Missouri looks to be in good shape to make a run at a third straight SEC East title in 2015.
