UFC 183: Sara McMann says 'I'm a fighter but I try to be a martial artist'

Former Olympic medalist and UFC title challenger Sara McMann talks to Phoenix Carnevale before her bout with Miesha Tate. She has been training with MMA striking guru Phil Nurse and BJJ ace Marcelo Garcia.

UFC women's bantamweight contender Sara McMann fights Miesha Tate tomorrow on Fox Sports 1 in the headline preliminary bout of UFC 183 in Las Vegas. McMann spoke to Phoenix Carnevale about a wide-range of topics including improving her striking with coach Phil Nurse, the difference between being a fighter and being a martial artist, female fighters owning their own sexuality, the source of her work ethic and more.

The No. 3 ranked McMann fought for the UFC title against Ronda Rousey in 2013 and is looking to get back in the title hunt with a win. She faces No. 2 Miesha Tate, one of the most popular fighters in the division. McMann's wrestling skills have her favored by the oddsmakers but anything can happen in mixed martial arts and she's taking nothing for granted.

The UFC 183 preliminaries air on Fox Sports 1 before the UFC 183 PPV on Saturday.
