Texas vs. Oklahoma betting odds and prediction

The Oklahoma Sooners hope to bounce back from their first loss of the season.

The Oklahoma Sooners are 9-5 straight up and 8-5-1 against the spread over the last 14 installments of the Red River Showdown against the Texas Longhorns. The Sooners hope to bounce back from a loss last Saturday with a win in this week's rivalry game in Dallas (noon ET, ABC).

Oklahoma is a 14.5-point favorite on Saturday, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Texas' offense likely won't be able to hang with the Sooners, who should be able to win and cover in this matchup.

Oklahoma cruised out to a 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS record this season by winning every game by double digits and looking strong on both sides of the ball. But in last Saturday's week of upsets, the Sooners were one of the casualties in a 37-33 loss to TCU as a 3.5-point road favorite. Oklahoma was 4-0 SU and ATS in its previous four games against Big 12 opponents before losing to TCU last week.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Oklahoma 41, Texas 26

Head coach Charlie Strong has Texas playing physical on defense, but with a sputtering offense, it hasn't translated to wins. Since scoring 38 points in a win and cover against North Texas in their season opener, the Longhorns have averaged only 13.5 points per game en route to a 1-3 SU and 2-2 ATS record over their last four games. With no threat of a passing game, opposing defenses can focus on defending the run and keep Texas in check.

Texas' strong defense and weak offense have made the Longhorns a very profitable play on the UNDER recently. The UNDER is 11-1-1 in Texas' last 13 games overall according to the OddsShark College Football Database, and 13-3 in Texas' last 16 games against Big 12 opponents.

Oklahoma is averaging 42.4 points per game on offense this season. While the Sooners may not score at that clip against the stingy defense of the Longhorns, they likely won't have to to cover the spread against a team that has struggled so badly to find the end zone. At -14.5, Oklahoma should get the job done.
