Florida State still on top for Calvin Ashley, but Auburn and Ohio State interest him as well

Ashley looks far older than a member of the class of 2017.

Despite having two seasons of high school to go, Calvin Ashley already looks like a college football player. The offensive tackle transferred from Dr. Phillips in Orlando to IMG Academy this spring and Sunday at the Nike Opening Regional Football Camp, Ashley measured in at an impressive 6'7 and 307 pounds. Ashley is a four-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite, and is considered one of the best tackles in the class of 2017. He holds offers from Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Oregon.

"IMG has helped me a lot, it's like college," Ashley said. "I'm working on my feet and my hands."

Recently Ashley picked up offers from Ohio State, Maryland and Penn State, but his favorite remains the Florida State Seminoles.

"I liked it since I was a kid, and it's like a family back home," Ashley said of FSU. His last visit to Tallahassee was Oct.18 for the win over Notre Dame.

"They keep it strong and stay together. They don't give up," Ashley said of the offensive line. "It's all loyal."

Ashley was also impressed that Florida State had a true freshman starting at offensive tackle in 2015 in Roderick Johnson. He added that his best relationship is with coach Rick Trickett.

Ashley has Auburn as his No. 2 program.

"I'm close with the coaches and it is a very good school," he said. Ashley speaks with coach J. B. Grimes and would like to visit Auburn this month.

Ohio State is another program that stands out to the talented tackle.

"It's a good school, it's a good program, I have a lot of friends there," Ashley said. His roommate at IMG is Ohio State offensive line commit Tyler Gerald. Ashley would like to see the Buckeyes' program.
