Wes Welker day to day with back injury, fantasy value dwindling

The Broncos consider Wes Welker day to day after the brutal shot he took in Week 9. We break down the fantasy implications.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker is considered "day to day" after suffering a back injury in Sunday's Week 9 loss to the New England Patriots. Head coach John Fox did not give any specifics on his status for next week's game with the Oakland Raiders.

Welker left Sunday's game after taking a massive shot to the back from a Broncos defender while attempting to make a catch. He finished the game with three catches for 31 yards, his highest yardage total since Week 7. Welker has had a disappointing season so far, catching just 22 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown in seven games.

Fantasy impact: We should know more about Welker's Week 10 status when the Broncos return to practice on Wednesday, but at this point you really shouldn't be starting him in 12-team leagues. The former PPR monster hasn't had more than three catches since Week 5 and is clearly not a big part of the offense after the emergence of Emmanuel Sanders. It's fair to wonder if the 33-year-old has reached the beginning of the end.
