The press conference is streaming live on Monday at 3 pm eastern.
The Cubs will officially introduce their new manager, Joe Maddon, during a 3 pm press conference in Chicago. Earlier on Monday, it was revealed that Maddon had signed a five-year, $25 million contract with the Cubs -- that's just a slight raise from the $1.85 million he would have made had he stuck with the Rays for 2015.
Maddon opted out of his deal after general manager Andrew Friedman headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers, however, and that pair of moves ended up costing Rick Renteria, still the Cubs' manager this time last week, his job. The dismissal of Renteria in favor of Maddon, widely considered the game's top manager, will raise the pressure to win in a city that has already been waiting since 1908 for a World Series championship. Whether Maddon ends up being that championship manager is unknown, but with his track record and the respect his players reportedly have had for him in the past, the Cubs could have done a lot worse.
